I have come to the conclusion that without Alexa integration I will find any SmartThings replacement useless. 80% of my SmartThings utilization is based on integration with Alexa.
Alexa, turn on kitchen light.
Alexa, turn on Living Room AC.
Alexa, Bedroom light at 80% please.
Alexa, Shut off everything (my favorite shuts down my whole house)
Without this I need to leave almost every zwave device I have on my ST hub.
So I am wondering if there is some way we can trick this hub the way we did with ST before it was integrated. We used the Hue Bridge which is supported by Amazon Echo and wrote an emulator which talked to the SmartThings Hub. I think we need to do the same thing for the Animus Home Hub.
Another option would be to write a Echo Skill. This would be a little more annoying because now you would have to say something like "Alexa, Ask Animus, turn on the kitchen light" but it would allow for the full power of the Animus, anything it could do we could write a voice interface.
I have written one Amazon Skill so I have the chops but perhaps not the time haha When I get my hands on an Animus this will likely be the first thing I start working on. That is unless Animus is already in the works of doing this (Fingers Crossed that they are)
My real hope is that Animus is talking with Amazon already to work on full integration!!!!
Perhaps they have some other voice interface in mind. That could be an option but would make my 4 Amazon Echo's a bit useless.
